Slaydon arrested and charged with felonies after fleeing last month

This afternoon, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office along with Jasper Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety - Southeast Texas Region, United States Marshals Service and others worked an operation that ended with Jeffrey Slaydon of Jasper in custody facing multiple charges including Evading Arrest/Detention w/Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon stemming from the 2/28/24 incident where Slaydon fled from officers on a motorcycle and on foot.


Slaydon was arrested near Elijah’s Cafe in the city of Jasper at around 7:20pm, after leaving a nearby hotel.

Sheriff Newman would like to commend all agencies for their diligence in locating and apprehending Slaydon.

On Tuesday, February 27, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was called to a possible vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at US HWY 96 S and County Road 317 just south of Roganville in Jasper

County.


Prior to deputies’ arrival, a black truck dropped off a white male wearing a black jacket who left the scene on the motorcycle.


Deputies were able to locate the motorcycle on US HWY 96 near County Road 314 and upon activating

emergency lights, the motorcycle began to evade. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 115 MPH.


The driver wrecked out at US HWY 96 and FM 1005, where he fled on foot into a wooded area. The deputy

pursued the driver on foot but was unable to locate him.


After further investigation, the driver was identified as 35-year-old Jeffrey Slaydon of Jasper. Warrants have been issued for Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle, 3rd Degree Felony, Evading Arrest

with Previous Conviction (State Jail Felony), and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon (3rd Degree

Felony).


Chief Duncan states that Slaydon remains at large and encourages anyone with information regarding
