We are all sick of telemarketing companies calling multiple times a day and never removing us from there list of numbers to call. Go to DoNotCall.gov - THEN register your phone number. It takes less than 2 minutes to complete the process. You're Welcome!
FTC’s National Do Not Call Registry:
What it is: A free list of phone numbers that tells legitimate telemarketers not to call you. It reduces real sales calls; it can’t stop scammers by itself.
Who can register: Personal home or cell numbers (not business or fax lines). Registration doesn’t expire.
How to register: Visit DoNotCall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222 from the number you’re registering (TTY 1-866-290-4236).
When it takes effect: Telemarketers must check/scrub the Registry and honor it within 31 days. Each illegal call can count as a separate violation.
Allowed calls (common exceptions): Political, charity, and survey calls, plus companies you have an established business relationship with (up to 18 months after a purchase or 3 months after an inquiry), unless you tell them not to call again.
Enforcement & penalties: Violators can face civil penalties up to $53,088 per call, injunctions, and more.
If calls continue: Use call-blocking tools and report unwanted calls at DoNotCall.gov (or ReportFraud.ftc.gov for scams).
