One Kirbyville family is thankful for the help they received after a huge tree fell on their home

Clean-up is underway after today's storms. Huge trees blocking roadways, downed power lines and at least one home in Kirbyville that was hit by a tree.

Ellis and Althea Thomas live in Kirbyville on the corner of W. Trout and Adams Streets. Their 4-year-old granddaughter, Eliana Stanley is spending her Christmas break here with her grandparents. However today, she and her grandmother were home alone when a massive tree fell across the home.

Mrs. Thomas said, "It was scary!! Me and my granddaughter were watching tv, and I heard a loud crackling noise and flash of light. My clock that was on the wall had fallen, I jumped up to see what else had fallen and looked out the back door only to see the tree was on the roof."

When asked how Eliana handled the situation, Thomas said, "She is fine! But wanted to know if we were going to die! I told her not until the Lord was ready for us. I don't think we will die because the tree is on the house!"

It wasn't long before an entire crew was at the home removing the tree and patching the roof. Thomas said that Kirbyville Police Officer, Josh Hancock rounded everyone up.

In a Facebook post, Mrs Thomas said, "First off I would like to thank the almighty God for covering me and my Sweetpea today! We are truly blessed. Next I want to thank my brother George, Officer Josh Hancock, Ashley Brasher Powell and Casey Powell, Jeremy Richardson, Jack Bishop, Steve Sowder, Mr. David Littlefield, David Jones, Brandon and Bridgeton Brown. Some I know others I have never met but it did not stop you from coming to our aide.May God shower down blessings from heaven upon you!! Thanks from the bottom of my heart. George and Mr. Casey are true heroes!"
