One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 96 Thursday Night

Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash Thursday night on U.S. Highway 96, near FM 1005 and County Road 434, in southern Jasper County.
The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m., prompting response from Jasper EMS, Tri-Community First Responders, and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department.
According to on-scene reports, the collision involved a Nissan truck, which came to rest in the grass on the northbound side of Highway 96, and a Chevrolet truck remained in the southbound lane of the highway.
Jasper EMS transported the driver of the Chevrolet truck by ambulance to CHRISTUS Jasper Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
The scene was secured and cleared with the assistance of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and both Hatch's Towing and Jasper Xxon Towing.
All lanes of Highway 96 were reopened by 10:20 p.m. as the scene was cleared.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
