Obituary of Wesley Scott Matlock

April 21, 1977 - July 1, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wesley Scott Matlock of Crosby, TX, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who departed this life far too soon. He was born on April 21, 1977 in Pasadena, Texas and transitioned to his heavenly home on July 1, 2025 at the age of 48 while surrounded by loved ones at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Scott was a man of many talents, known for both the strength of his hands and the depth of his spirit. As a skilled welder and gifted tattoo artist, he brought art and craftsmanship into everything he did. Whether shaping metal with precision or creating lasting works of inked art, Scott poured passion and pride into his work — always with an eye for detail and a heart full of creativity. He was also a talented guitarist who found joy in music and played in bands with friends during his younger years in Channelview, TX.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Scott's legacy lives on — in his children, in the stories we share, and in the countless lives he touched with his art and joyful presence. His faith in Jesus gives us peace, knowing he lives on in heaven, reunited with his parents, Ronald Wayne Matlock and Ruth Gunter Wisdom, as well as other cherished family members who proceeded him in death.

Scott is survived by his wife Brittany Grant; his five sons Cole, Kyle (wife Traci), Corbin, Charles and Micah; his stepchildren Leigh-Ann Rindfuss, KC Crockett, and Mikayla Franzen; his grandchildren, Thomas and Ezra; his sister April Arceneaux, his brother Jared Matlock; mother-in-law, Sheila Grant; and many other family members and friends who loved him deeply.

Family graveside services will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery, 4195 Hwy 69 North, Colmesneil, Texas. Brother Stephen McBride will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GoFundMe campaign to support family needs: https://gofund.me/a989a23c

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
