Obituary of Lloyd Benoit October 7, 1932 - January 18, 2025

A Celebration of Lloyd Benoit’s Life, age 92, of Vinton, Louisiana will be 9:00 to 12:00 noon Friday morning, January 24, 2025 at the Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home with burial at the Central Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana.


Lloyd passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas.


A native and lifelong resident of Vinton, Louisiana, Lloyd was a retired draftsman in the Petroleum Industry and was a U.S. Army Veteran for three years October 1950 to October 1953 serving in the Korean War where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. He loved to bar-b-que and loved spending his time mowing the grass. His fondest memories were spending time with his children and grandchildren.


Lloyd is survived by his children, Richard Benoit of Vinton, Louisiana, Donna Gragg and husband Dale of Hemphill, Texas, Anthony Benoit of Houston, Texas, and Joel Benoit and wife Shannon of Conroe, Texas; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and siblings, Sylvester McClelland of Vinton, Louisiana, Drucilla Foreman of Carlyss, Louisiana, Joyce Abshire of Sulphur, Louisiana and Randall McClelland of Bridge City, Texas.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile Benoit and Electa Mott McClelland; wife Bonnie Benoit; siblings, Cecil McClelland, Alberta LeDeoux, Louella Beaudeaux, Lillie Mae Trahan, Evelyn Chesson and Mildred Williams.


Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
