Obituary of Duane Crews

Duane Crews, 74, of Colmesneil, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025 at his residence in Colmesneil, Texas.


Visitation will begin 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Officiating will be Dale Brantley.


Duane was born March 11, 1951 to James Harley and Margarete Crews in Woodville, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Colmesneil and a member of the First Baptist Church in Colmesneil. Duane was a 1969 graduate of Colmesneil High School and formerly worked as a lifeguard at Lake Tejas. A jack of all trades, Duane worked with Brown & Root as a welder fabricator, and Lufkin Industries as a welder, before operating Crews Services for over 40 years. Duane served the city of Colmesneil as a city councilman and mayor for many years.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harley and Margarete Crews; sister-in-law, Ruthie Crews; and niece, Kayla Scalise.


He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Renee Crews of Colmesneil; daughter, Brittnie Crews and consort, Aaron Pickens of Kyle, Texas; son, Micah Crews and companion, Jansen Graham of Colmesneil; brother, Jimmy Crews of Colmesneil; sister, Carolyn Crews Walsh of Colmesneil; grandchildren, Harlynne Reeves, Koleson Crews and Mack Crews; and a host of other family & friends.


Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
