No License? No Problem. Free Fishing Day Is June 7th!

Grab your rods and reels — it’s time to fish without a license! This Saturday, June 7, 2025, is Free Fishing Day across the Lone Star State. For one day only, residents and visitors alike can fish on any public body of water in Texas without a fishing license or endorsement.

The annual event, hosted by Texas Parks and Wildlife, aims to introduce more people to the joys of recreational fishing. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or have never held a rod before, this is your chance to explore Texas’ rich fishing spots without the usual paperwork.

Where can you fish for free?

  • Any public waters in Texas on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

  • All year round in over 70 Texas State Parks (with paid park entry)

  • Private property (as long as the water is completely enclosed within it)

Don’t forget: While licenses are waived for the day, all size and bag limits still apply. Be sure to check up-to-date regulations at OutdoorAnnual.com.

New to fishing? No problem!

Every fishing license sold supports conservation and fisheries management, keeping Texas one of the top fishing destinations in the U.S. So if you’re already licensed, thank you — now’s the perfect time to invite someone new to the sport.

Whether it’s a quiet solo cast or a day out with the family, Free Fishing Day is your invitation to enjoy the water, connect with nature, and maybe even reel in the big one.
