NEWTON, Texas — The City of Newton weathered the rain in full force for yet another send off of their Newton Eagles to the State Championship game.
The Newton Eagles(14-1) are headed back to Arlington for another chance at a state championship, set to face the Wall Hawks(15-0) this week at AT&T Stadium.
Newton Eagle football is synonymous with winning and this season has not been any different. Newton advanced to the 3A Division II state championship game after another dominant playoff run, returning to Texas high school football’s biggest stage with an opportunity to add to the program’s storied legacy.
Newtons only loss on the year came against West Orange-Stark Mustangs, who are returning to the 4A Division II State Championship against the Carthage Bulldogs.
Newton currently has 5 state titles in its history and is making its eighth championship game appearance this week while this will be the Wall Hawks second appearance in the championship game.
