Newton County Sheriff's Department captured wanted fugitive

30-year-old Shawn Hickman arrested on Parole Violations and Possession of a Controlled Substance

Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said that he was out patrolling with some of his Deputies last night when they happened upon a wanted fugitive from Texas Pardon and Parole.

30-year-old Shawn Hickman was spotted as he was walking down County Road 4181 in Deweyville.

Hickman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail. He was charged with parole violations and of possession of a controlled substance.

Havard added, "(Hickman) will not be walking the streets of CR 4181 anytime soon.
