Newton County is investigating an Aggravated Assault following a shooting

In a press release, Newton County Sheriff Burby said, "On October 31, Newton County Sheriff's Office received a call at 10:59 p.m. of

a possible shooting near the 400 Block of CR 4188 in Deweyville. Deputies contacted the victim who advised they had been shot in the hand. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment".

Burby stated that this is an active investigation, and a person of interest has been identified and is currently being sought by his office.
