Newton County drowning search update

Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby has issued an updated statement on the drowning in North Newton County.

Burby said, "Recovery efforts have resumed this morning for the body of an individual. NCSO received the report of a drowning at the Scrappin Valley Lodge just off Highway 87, shortly before 5:00 on Tuesday evening."

Burby added that as of 3 PM today, a recovery had not yet been made. Divers from Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s office will be joining the recovery efforts.
