Missing Jasper woman with Alzheimer's has been found safe

Excellent work by Jasper County Sergeant Cody Christopher and Jasper County Dispatchers helped locate a missing woman early this morning.

Friday at approximately 1:00 p.m., Sergeant Cody Christopher was notified of a possible missing elderly female from Jim Goode Lake area in north Jasper County. Sergeant Christopher responded to the location and spoke with family/friends.

Jasper County Dispatchers continued to assist with attempting to find the woman. At approximately 4:00 p.m., dispatch was able to “ping” her cell phone. The “ping” resulted in cellular activity near Lafayette, Louisiana.

Jasper County Communication Operators immediately contacted the local law enforcement agency for that area. Because of her age and medical condition, she was entered into the national database. At approximately 12:00 (midnight), the woman was able to contact a family member and a Jasper S.O. Deputy advising them that she was lost. 911 in Louisiana was contacted and Lafayette PD officers were able to locate her.

Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said, "Because of the due diligence of Sergeant Christopher, Deputy Hollyfield and our dispatchers, the lady was returned home safely to Jasper County this morning".

Havard added, "I am very proud of the work that our men and women do to assist and keep the citizens of Jasper County safe. Great job done by Sergeant Christopher and all of our employees."
