Lufkin Convenience Store Sells $1 Million Winning Ticket

LUFKIN, Texas — A routine stop for snacks turned into a life-changing event for one Lufkin resident last week.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, a customer at the Kwick Korner Food Mart, located at the intersection of Timberland Drive and Chestnut Street, purchased a $50 "500X" scratch-off ticket. That ticket turned out to be a $1 million top-prize winner.

While the winner has chosen to remain anonymous, the Texas Lottery Commission confirmed the prize was claimed shortly after the sale. The Kwick Korner, a staple convenience stop at 203 S. Timberland Dr., is now the latest "lucky" location in East Texas.

The Odds of Winning

The "500X" game, which first went into circulation in September 2024, is known for its high stakes and significant payouts. According to Texas Lottery records:

• Total Top Prizes: 15

• Prizes Claimed: 13 (including the Lufkin winner)

• Prizes Remaining: 2

• Odds of Winning: The approximate odds of hitting the $1 million jackpot are 1 in 400,000.
