Lake Rayburn Fire Department Fundraiser Raises More Than $56,000 in Community Support

LAKE RAYBURN - Community members and businesses turned out in force to support the Lake Rayburn Fire Department, helping generate more than $56,000 during a recent fundraiser, according to organizers.

An unofficial total shows $28,050 raised through sponsorships, $23,460 from the live auction, and $4,590 from the silent auction, bringing the current total to $56,100. Raffle ticket proceeds have not yet been finalized.

“Our community showed up in a big way,” one organizer said in a statement. “That doesn’t happen without incredible people and businesses stepping up behind the scenes.”

The funds are said to being going toward equipment, training and operational needs for the department, helping ensure continued emergency response coverage throughout the Lake Rayburn area.

Organizers extended their appreciation to Joe Penland and his staff raising $3,300 and providing the venue, staff, food and beverages for the festivities.
