Sandi Saulsbury

Details are slowly coming in, but from what we understand, an officer involved shooting has left a Kirbyville man dead tonight.

According to Jasper County Dispatch, a call came through at around 6:05 Saturday night saying that the man was threatening suicide by cop. Dispatch said that he was in a wheelchair, possibly intoxicated, and shooting a gun.

Law enforcement from Jasper County and Kirbyville PD arrived on the scene on FM 82 just before 7 pm, and shortly after that, the shooting occurred.

Officers called for an ambulance, however it is currently unknown whether or not another person was also shot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

ETB has the deceased man's name, but will not be releasing that information until after the family is notified.
