KIRBYVILLE, TEXAS- Kirbyville Highschool held their 59th annual Veteran’s Day Program. Servicemen and women were invited to come and eat as well as partake in the festivities in their honor. The Highschool prepared a free breakfast in the library that was served at 8 a.m. where Veterans were treated to letters and pictures drawn by Kirbyville students. The program began at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium. Live music was provided by the Highschool band and veteran guest speakers.

“This is the 59th annual Veteran’s day program,” said Guest of Honor Navy Chief Petty Officer Brian Winters, “They didn’t even skip Covid. So while everyone was hiding in their house Kirbyville was celebrating Veterans.”

He spoke about his 23 years of service and about the importance of remembering the sacrifices of our Veterans before US Navy Lieutenant Commander Wayne Wiltshire gave the Memorial Prayer. Chief Winters was presented a plaque for speaking and led the parade through the Elementary and Middle Schools pickup lanes where the students gathered and waved signs and flags.

After the parade at 10 a.m. the Kirbyville Women’s Civic Club hosted their Veteran’s Luncheon. Veterans and their families ate barbeque for free.
