WARREN, Texas – Nov. 26, 2025. Jim Zachary has formally announced his candidacy for Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, seeking a return to public service in Tyler County.

Zachary, who previously served as Constable for Precinct 4 before retiring in 2020, said his decision to run is rooted in his continued work in law enforcement and judicial support roles. His announcement outlines a broad range of experience across local and federal agencies, including service as Deputy Marshal, bailiff, training officer for the City of Ivanhoe, and Administrative Captain after the city established its police department. He also works with the U.S. Marshals Service as a federal court security officer in Beaumont.
In sharing his announcement, Zachary asked voters to consider the experience he brings to the bench.
“I am Jim Zachary and I am seeking the office of Justice of the Peace Pct 4. It would be my honor to once again serve the people of Tyler County. My training, education and experience are my greatest qualification. Since retiring as your constable in 2020 I have continued to utilize my education and experience and serve in different areas of law enforcement. I served as Deputy Marshall, bailiff and training officer for the City of Ivanhoe. I have become a licensed Process Server. I have also served as an instructor for the Texas Justice Court Training Center, traveling across Texas training Constables and JPs.
When Ivanhoe transitioned to a police department, I became Administrative Captain and bailiff, where I still serve today. I currently work with the U.S. Marshal Service as a federal court security officer in Beaumont, a position I will resign once becoming JP of Pct 4.
I am secure in my knowledge of the position and my experience would allow me to serve Pct 4 and Tyler County well. I appreciate your thoughtful consideration and your VOTE! If you have questions please call me.409-429-0509”
Zachary said he believes his background would allow him to step into the role with an immediate understanding of judicial responsibilities and daily operations. The Justice of the Peace court handles a wide range of duties in Precinct 4, including Class C misdemeanor cases, civil matters, magistrations, and inquests.
Election filing for local offices in Tyler County opened earlier this month, with candidates continuing to announce campaigns ahead of the March 2026 primary.
