KIRBYVILLE – A Kirbyville man wanted for a probation violation was taken into custody Thursday morning after deputies spotted him outside a home and quickly moved in.
Around 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 14, Sgt. Chris Wade and Deputy Spivey went to the 300 block of County Road 474 in an attempt to locate James Butler, 28, who was wanted by Jasper County on a motion to revoke probation for evading arrest, a third-degree felony.
While Sgt. Wade was watching the residence, Butler stepped out the front door but retreated inside when he saw a patrol vehicle. Wade moved to the back of the home and found Butler in the backyard. The suspect complied when ordered to the ground and was arrested without incident.
He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Butler is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said his office remains committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
