Jasper County to Host 3rd Annual Veterans Stand Down Event on August 1

Free Services, Lunch, and Door Prizes for Southeast Texas Veterans and Their Families

The Jasper County Annex Building will once again open its doors to veterans and their families for the 3rd Annual Southeast Texas Veterans Stand Down, scheduled for Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 271 East Lamar Street in Jasper. Attendees may park on the Houston Street side of the building.

This special event is dedicated to supporting military veterans, active-duty personnel, their families, and caregivers from Jasper County and surrounding areas of Southeast and Deep East Texas. Organized in partnership with local and regional agencies, this completely free event offers vital services, resources, and community support in one centralized location.

More than 25 nonprofit and government organizations will be onsite providing assistance with:

• VA claims and benefit information

• Housing and shelter services

• Legal assistance

• SNAP (food stamp) enrollment

• Mental health screenings

• Medical and substance abuse resources

• COVID-19 vaccinations

• Services for women veterans

• Assistance with DD214s and survival benefits

• Clothing and duffle bags for those who qualify

• Lunch and door prizes will also be available for all attendees.

“Our local veterans have given so much,” said a representative from the Jasper County Judge’s Office. “We’re proud to host this Stand Down to ensure they receive the support, recognition, and care they deserve.”

The event is being held with support from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Red Cross, the Texas Veterans Commission, and other regional partners.
