On January 30th, 2025, myself, Jasper County officials and other law enforcement agencies met with all Jasper County School District Officials to discuss safety in our schools. Safety for our schools and students is of the upmost importance and we will work tirelessly with our school officials to ensure our campuses are safe. I would like to thank all of our Jasper County School Districts for all they do for our students and our communities.

This is an open case and there are people of interest. We are turning over every stone related to this case.

On January 31st, 2025, a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling Sunset Community near Evadale and stopped James Paul Marie, 33, and passenger Heather Lynn Pacovsky, 38, both of Vidor. On February 3rd, 2025, I received a call from a parent of a Jasper ISD student. The parent stated another student threatened her son’s life.
