Jasper County Sheriff's Office has partnered with Goodwill Workplace Training to bring job skills to jail inmates

5-14-25

Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard today announced a partnership with Goodwill Workplace Training and Assistance Center to provide job training and assistance to Jasper County Jail inmates.

Havard said that initially, inmates will receive training in valuable skills such as resume building, job search assistance, interview preparation skills, and navigating employment applications. They will also receive job coaching and computer training. Havard added, "As the program progresses in our facility other life skills training will be offered".

Sheriff Havard states, “According to Goodwill this is the first time they have partnered with an East Texas Sheriff’s Office and I’m glad they chose us. I really feel like this will have an immediate impact on our inmates when they are released from our custody. At least they will be given some basic guidance on how to get and retain jobs so they can provide for their families. I want to thank Goodwill and I look forward to this program starting next month in our jail. We will continue to do everything possible to give our inmates every chance at success”.
