The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is extending a proud congratulations to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Zack Atchison, who has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant effective December 1, 2025. Lieutenant Atchison will be based in Beaumont and will serve as the Lieutenant in charge of Highway Patrol operations in Jasper County.
Atchison brings 16 years of DPS experience to the role. His career has included assignments in Madisonville and Hempstead, where he was promoted to Sergeant in 2017. He later transferred to Bastrop in 2021, continuing to serve there until receiving his promotion.
Sheriff Chuck Havard emphasized the critical partnership between DPS and rural law-enforcement agencies like Jasper County:
“DPS is a tremendous asset to rural Sheriff’s Offices, and they often fill in the gaps for us with much-needed assistance. We appreciate the fantastic working relationship we have with Captain Kevin Hussey, Sergeant Scott Folmar, and their troopers, and we are looking forward to working with Lieutenant Atchison.”
Sheriff Havard added a welcoming message on behalf of the entire agency:
“On behalf of the men and women of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, congratulations Lieutenant Atchison on your promotion. Welcome to our community.”
Lieutenant Atchison’s assignment marks a continued investment in public safety for Jasper County as DPS and JCSO maintain a unified approach to serving the residents of Southeast Texas.
