Jasper County’s First Peace Officer Academy in 20+ Years Graduates Tonight

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Tonight marks a historic milestone for Jasper County as Cadet Class 119 graduates from the county’s first Peace Officer Academy in more than two decades.

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. at the Jasper High School Auditorium and is open to the public and media. Families, community members, and local leaders are expected to attend in support of the new graduates who have completed the rigorous Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) licensing process.

Sheriff Chuck Havard shared his pride in the cadets ahead of the event:

“I’m very proud of these men and women. They have answered the call to serve their communities. They have worked hard and sacrificed a lot. I couldn’t be more proud of them. Also, I would like to thank the community for their support and Angelina College for bringing this academy to Jasper.”

This academy was made possible through a partnership with the Angelina College Law Enforcement Academy and the Deep East Texas College & Career Academy (DETCCA), with planning support from Jasper County leaders.

Tonight’s graduation not only launches the careers of new licensed peace officers but also strengthens the public safety workforce across Jasper County and the surrounding region.
