Jasper County Deputy arrests two for felony possession Saturday night

On February 1, 2025, at approximately 11:14 PM a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling the area of FM 82 and County Road 404.


The deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a light (equipment) violation. Once the deputy initiated the traffic stop, a female exited the vehicle and attempted to open a driveway gate. The deputy observed her digging in her pockets and it was later discovered that the female discarded a clear like substance believed to be methamphetamines.


The driver of the vehicle was wanted for traffic warrants and was placed under arrest. After placing him under arrest, the deputy discovered several grams of a clear like substance believed to be methamphetamines on his person as well.

The driver was identified as Donald Thompson Jr, 46, of Newton.

The passenger was identified as Stephanie Gayle Ernst, 32, of Kirbyville. Both were arrested for a Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance and brought to the Jasper County Jail. Mr.


Thompson and Ms. Ernst are innocent unless proven guilty in court of law. Additionally, the deputy also served city warrants on both individuals.
