Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard has turned to the citizens of Jasper County in hopes of raising funds for a new law enforcement boat. Havard said that while there are other water related law enforcement departments here such as the Texas Parks and Wildlife as well as rescue groups, it would greatly benefit our County to have such a resource available when it is needed.
Havard made a social media post requesting $100,000 in donations for this project and within 24 hours, Havard said that they had already reached more than halfway to their goal.
Harvard's social media post can be found below in its entirety:

🎉JASPER COUNTY—YOU’RE MAKING THIS HAPPEN!
In less than 24 hours, this community has come together and raised over $53,000 in committed funds with another $20,000 to $25,000 pledged toward a law enforcement boat for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. 💪
That’s more than halfway to our $100,000 goal in just one day!
Checks were literally waiting in the sheriff’s office this morning. Donations big and small are coming from all over Southeast Texas. You see the need and you’re stepping up without hesitation.
This is what community looks like. This is Jasper County.
