Harold James (Jim) Saari April 27, 1927 - July 31, 2024 U.S. Veteran

Harold James (Jim) Saari passed away on July 31, 2024 at the age of 97. A Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at First Methodist Church of Jasper, Texas.

He was born on April 27, 1927 in Cook, Minnesota to Henry and Ida Saari. He attended Cook High School and served in the United States Navy in World War II. He married Dorothy (Dot) Reynolds on November 14,1958. On September 12, 1962, they were blessed with their only child, Conya.

He spent most of his long career in the Forestry Division with Owens-Illinois in Virginia, The Bahamas, Florida and Texas. He retired in September 1987.

He was a member of First Methodist Church, Jasper, Texas for fifty years.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dot; daughter, Conya Koch; three granddaughters, Amber (Michael) Lynch, Shelby (Sean) Murray and Katy (Justin) White; Great-Grandchildren, Jayden Bonvillian, Landon Gerth, Caleb Gerth and Olivia Murray; Nephews, Bill Leenhouts and Jim (Kathy) Leenhouts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Floyd Saari, sister, Audrey Leenhouts, and brother-in-laws, Keith Leenhouts and John Reynolds.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas.
