KOUNTZE, Texas — The Hardin County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Monday morning to extend the countywide burn ban for another 30 days.

The decision came during a special session held at 9 a.m. as drought conditions continue across the region.
Although parts of the county received some rain Tuesday, officials said it was not enough to relieve the severe drought. Additional rainfall is expected this weekend, and officials remain hopeful for a soaking rain without flooding.

The ban on outdoor burning will be lifted once conditions improve and it is deemed safe to do so, according to county officials.
