JASPER COUNTY, Texas – A routine EMS call turned into an unusual rescue Thursday evening when firefighters were called to assist a man trapped inside a walk-in bathtub.
Around 8 p.m., East End Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded to Donna Drive after EMS requested additional help. According to officials, the patient had fallen inside the walk-in tub, and the door jammed shut, preventing him from getting out.
East End firefighters worked alongside EMS crews to safely extricate the man and then assisted with loading him for medical care.
The rescue effort received additional support from Beech Grove VFD, Jasper Fire Department, and Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department. East End VFD reported sending one engine, one brush truck, and five personnel to the scene.
In a statement, East End VFD extended their well wishes to the patient:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the gentleman for a speedy recovery.”
