Fillyaw announces his Candidacy for Newton County Judge

NEWTON COUNTY, Texas — Lifelong Newton County resident Lee Fillyaw has announced his candidacy for Newton County judge, citing decades of public service, community involvement and small-business experience.

Fillyaw said he was born and raised in Newton County and raised his family in the community. His public service includes time on the Newton Independent School District Board of Trustees, where he served as board president, as well as service on the Newton City Council.
He also spent more than 30 years serving on the Newton County Fair Board, including more than 20 years as vice president and president.

In addition to public service, Fillyaw has served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Newton and owned and operated the Newton Feed Store for 10 years. He said those experiences have given him firsthand knowledge of the people, challenges and opportunities within the county.
