Evadale man arrested on Felony Aggravated Assault warrants in Buna

BUNA, TX-
On Monday evening, at 6:20 p.m., Jasper County Deputy James Roy recognized an Evadale man who he knew to have Aggravated Assault warrants in Jasper County.
The man, 47-year-old Wendell Shayne Nichols of Evadale was at Brookshire Brothers in Buna. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Nichols has been charged with a 3rd Degree Felony of Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family/Household Member Impede Breath / Circulation, and a 2nd Degree Felony of Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon. Once Nichols arrived in Jasper County Jail, an Emergency Protective Order was put into place.
According to the Jasper County Jail, Nichols is still in custody with a $300,000 bond.
As always, he is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said, "Big shout out to our deputy for being observant and taking the initiative to arrest a wanted fugitive."
