ESD #4 has received $556,000 worth of life saving equipment

Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department Chief James Gunter said, "In 2022, BGVFD wrote a grant application on behalf of all of the VFD’s within Jasper County Emergency Services District # 4 for new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. Those departments are:

Angelina River Fire And Rescue

Beech Grove VFD, Jasper TX

East End Volunteer Fire Department

Lake Rayburn Fire Department

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Dept."

Additionally Gunter said, "In February 2023 the grant was funded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program in the amount of $442,000.

But due to the extreme wildfire season last summer, the bid process was delayed until late 2023. The bids were finally received and the order was awarded to Casco Industries, Inc. for the MSA Fire G1 SCBA".

The bid amount required a cash match of approximately $114,000, which was approved and funded by the Board of ESD 4.

This week the SCBA order arrived!

Gunter said that next week the order will be distributed to all of the VFD’s and this new life saving equipment will be put into use! Each VFD will receive 12 SCBA’s, 24 cylinders, 20 masks, and 6 chargers with spare batteries.
