Driver sent to hospital after hitting a cow

The East End Volunteer Fire Department said in a release;

At 8:51 last night, we were called to an area on FM 1738 just North of our Harrisburg Station for a vehicle that was involved in an accident with a cow that was in the middle of the road. The driver was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital by Allegiance EMS.

We want to thank Xxon Towing, Jasper County Sheriff's Office, and Texas DPS for responding.

We responded with Engine 2 and 7 personnel.

The cow did not survive.
