Deputy involved shooting in Kirbyville this morning

Details are very limited at this time, however what we do know it that at 5:33 this morning, November 2nd, The Jasper County Sheriff's Department received a call from a residence on Bon Ami Road in Kirbyville. Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman said that the caller, a woman was whispering and asking for help.

Once a Deputy was on scene, he was confronted by a man on the front porch of the residence. It is currently unknown what transpired, however the Deputy shot the man.

The unidentified man was later transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Jasper County Sheriff's Department and The Texas Rangers are investigating.

Newman said that officers have just cleared the scene.
