Christopher Sherer Dec. 26, 1979 - April 5, 2024

 Christopher Sherer, 44, of Jasper passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Jasper County Cowboy Church with interment to follow at Jasper County Cowboy Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the church.  


Christopher was born on December 26, 1979 in Nederland, Texas to Paul James & Vinh Thi Sherer. He grew up in Port Neches and graduated from Port Neches High School. He attended Houston Community College and received his law enforcement certification. He received his Master Peace Officer on September 22, 2023.  


Chris worked with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, Sergeant, Lt. Investigator and was an excellent officer that always had a great sense of humor and cared for those around him. He found his calling, working with kids in the DARE program and as a Mental Health Officer. He then went to work with the Jasper Police Department as a School Resource Officer. Chris loved his family at Parnell Elementary School. He loved working with kids and law enforcement, so he found the perfect balance. He exemplified public service by always helping those around him, volunteering at events, giving his talents to make Jasper, Jasper ISD, and Jasper County a better place for 20 years.


  Chris was a devoted and loving family man. He married his wife Kristin on July 2, 2005 in Livingston, Texas and they started their life together. They have two daughters, Madison and Tatum, that always knew how much they were loved. Chris enjoyed being with his family and friends and being their “Fat Boy”. He was always fun to be around and ready for a good laugh. He had a connection to people and always tried to build relationships to make the community better.


  He is survived by his mother Vinh Thi Sherer of Port Neches; wife Kristin Sherer of Jasper; daughters Madison Sherer and Tatum Sherer of Jasper; sisters Maria Sherer of Houston and Lisa Sherer of Port Neches; an uncle Robert Sherer & wife Sandra of Warren; all of the surviving relatives of the Hoang family; numerous nieces and nephews; his family at the Jasper Police Department, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, and his Parnell Elementary and JISD family.  


Officer Christopher Sherer, #134, is 10-42.
