Child Death Investigation Underway in North Jasper County

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — A 14-year-old child died early Saturday morning after being taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital, and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has opened a death investigation.

According to Sheriff Chuck Havard, deputies received a call from a family member at approximately 5:15 a.m. on August 16, 2025, reporting a medical emergency at a residence on County Road 269. Emergency medical services responded and transported the child to Jasper Memorial Hospital, where the child was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

An autopsy has been ordered, and the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case. No further details have been released at this time.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” Sheriff Havard said.
