Buna motorcyclist who struck deer was transported to Beaumont

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 1012, east of Jasper, that happened on Saturday, October 26.

DPS Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 12:40 p.m., a 2017 Indian Roadmaster motorcycle was traveling north. It is reported that the motorcycle struck a deer in the roadway, lost control, and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle."

The rider, identified as 65-year-old Terry Abshire of Buna, was transported to Christus Southeast for treatment of possible life-threatening injuries.

ETB was unable to find any updates on Abshire's condition.
