BUNA, Texas — A Buna man was arrested Sunday after deputies responding to a disturbance call discovered he was wanted on a sexual assault warrant, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies Morgan and Harrell were dispatched Nov. 30 to a residence on County Road 910 for a reported verbal disturbance. During their investigation, deputies made contact with Zachary Johnson, 22, of Buna.
Authorities determined Johnson had an active warrant out of the Red River County Sheriff’s Office for sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony. The warrant was confirmed and Johnson was taken into custody. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Officials noted Johnson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity throughout Jasper County.
