At our school, being a Bulldog is more than just wearing the colors or cheering from the sidelines — it’s a way of life. The Bulldog symbolizes strength, determination, and true loyalty; these values are

shown in everything we do, from the classroom to the field. Every student who walks through our halls becomes part of a proud legacy built over generations. For many, being a Bulldog runs deep in

families. Parents, siblings, and even grandparents once walked these same halls, striving for greatness and working toward success, leaving behind footprints of pride and perseverance. Following in the

footsteps of those we love so deeply reminds us that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves. We carry on the traditions that were the foundation of our school spirit, striving to keep the legacy alive with every victory, every challenge, and every

ever-growing success. Bulldog spirit doesn’t fade after graduation. Many alumni continue to

fill the stands each Friday night, proudly supporting and cheering on their hometown team. Their presence reminds us that once you become a Bulldog, you’re always a Bulldog. Their continued dedication inspires current students to work hard, stay united, and

honor the name we all share. The teachers and coaches at JISD push us to be our very best and

remind us that nothing worth having comes easy. They show us that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. From the roar of the crowd in a packed stadium to the quiet focus of aclassroom during exams, you can always feel the pride and

accomplishment that comes with being a Bulldog.

We recently lost two huge parts of JISD — Coach David Burt and his daughter, Coach Ayden Burt. Both left behind an incredible legacy of leadership, kindness, and Bulldog pride. Coach David Burt inspired

generations of athletes with his dedication and heart, later serving as principal at JJHS, while Coach Ayden Burt carried that same spirit forward, encouraging students to always give their best both on and

off the field and in the classroom. Seeing the two of them together at JJHS — a father and daughter who shared the same passion for teaching, coaching, and guiding others — was something truly special. Their bond reflected everything it means to be part of the

Bulldog family: strength, unity, and love for their school and students. Before Ayden passed away, she had planned to return to where it all began — coaching high school track on the same field where she grew up alongside her dad her whole life, coaching and learning from him every step of the way. Their presence touched every student, teammate, and colleague they met; they had a rare gift for making

everyone feel seen, valued, and believed in. The heartbreak of losing them is felt across our entire community, and not a day goes by that their names aren’t remembered with love and gratitude. Though they are no longer with us, their influence lives on in every practice, every game, and every student they inspired. Their memory reminds us what it truly means to be a Bulldog — to lead with strength, serve

with love, and never give up.

As we continue to grow and make our mark, we honor the legacy of those who came before us. They built the traditions we celebrate today — the cheers, the rivalries, and the memories that make this school feel like home. The Bulldog name carries a legacy of grit and greatness, and it’s up to each of us to carry it forward with pride.Because once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
