Brookeland teen injured in one-vehicle crash Saturday

A Brookeland teen was sent to Jasper Memorial for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident in Rayburn Country.

Texas Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "At about 1:30 pm, 18-year-old Lucas Montes, of Brookeland, was driving a 2024 Kia Forte eastbound on FM 1007 near Lake Shore Drive. The Kia traveled around a curve at an unsafe speed and lost control, causing the vehicle to travel into the north ditch where it struck a tree.”

Lake Rayburn Volunteer Fire Department worked to rescue Montes and assist with traffic control.
