Brookeland man arrested for terroristic threats

On Monday, April 21, at approximately 8:43p.m., the Jasper County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 200 block of Audrey St. in Brookeland, regarding a possible burglary.

When the deputy arrived and began clearing the structure, he heard what he knew to be someone fleeing through the wooded area from his location.

While searching, the deputy encountered 39-year-old Justin Elton Key of Brookeland. Key immediately charged toward the deputy in an aggressive manner screaming at him that he was going to shoot him in the head. The deputy was then able to stop Key and take him in to custody without incident. Key would later threaten to kill the primary deputy and the assisting deputy numerous times. Key was arrested for Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer/ Judge, a State Jail Felony, and transported to the Jasper County Jail. The investigation into the burglary continues.

Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wants the public to know that Key is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
