Annie Williams, age 98, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, at Legacy Nursing Home. She was born on April 13, 1926, to Ruel Locke and Ollie Jackson in Vernon, Texas.
Annie was no stranger to hard work, having spent many years in the upholstery business. She also took pride in raising greyhounds and tending to her garden on the family farm in Hemphill. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for fishing, hunting, and cooking with family and friends. Annie’s adventurous spirit was clear from her many trips, including memorable journeys to Alaska for halibut fishing and visits with dear friends, Stan and Rose.
Her life was filled with cherished moments shared with loved ones, creating memories that will continue to bring laughter and joy to those who knew her. Annie’s legacy of love, fun, and togetherness will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Annie is survived by her son, Alvin Lee Davis, and his wife Ellen; her daughters, Betty Jean Gable and husband Glenn, and Donna Marie Gettings and husband Joe. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Leah Wedelich, Stacy Norris, Brian Johnson, Bridgett Johnson, Rhonda Clemens, Tammie Tunks, David Pregeant, Barbara Berue, Richard Davis, Katherine Gullien, and Todd Pickell, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Williams; her son, Earl Franklin Graham; daughters, Carol Yvonne O’Neal and Nancy Irene Cox; grandson, Gregory Cox; and her brothers, Millard Franklin Locke, Lloyd B. Locke, and Earl Douglas Locke.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Gary Locke, Johny Locke, Glenn Gable and Dana Locke; Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Davis and Richard Davis and Officiating will be Alvin Davis.
A graveside celebration of Annie Williams’ life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 7, 2024, at Black Jack Cemetery, 11346 FM 429, Kaufman, Texas 75142.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
