A Newton County man has been arrested in Vernon Parish on drug charges

Last Friday, January 3, 38-year-old Akeem Jackson of Weirgate, was arrested by Agents with the Vernon Parish Narcotics Task Force following a traffic stop in the Evans Community.

Because he attempted to flee, Agents charged Jackson with one count of Resisting an Officer.

Upon searching the vehicle, Agents quickly discovered drugs. This earned Jackson one count of Possession of Methamphetamine in Excess of 28 Grams, one count of Possession of a Schedule II Narcotic with the Intent to Distribute, and one count of Flight from an Officer.

Bond has not been set and Jackson remains in the VPSO jail.
